Tottenham Hotspur 'considering signing Luton Town defender on free transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Luton Town defender Gabriel Osho.
The 25-year-old has - like the majority of his teammates at Kenilworth Road - been navigating his first campaign as a Premier League footballer. Osho has impressed in the backline for the Hatters, making 17 top-flight appearances and finding the net on two occasions, including during a 4-4 draw with Newcastle United on February 3. The centre-back recently earned international recognition for his performances domestically, receiving a call-up for Nigeria's March internationals. However, a knee injury prevented Osho from making his international debut for the Super Eagles against either Ghana or Mali in friendly fixtures.

Spurs interested in Luton's Osho?
According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham are looking to bolster their defensive ranks for a third straight transfer window ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. It is understood that Spurs are targeting a potential off-season swoop for Luton's Osho, who is approaching a critical junction in his Hatters career. The defender's current terms at Kenilworth Road expire at the conclusion of the term, meaning that he is able to leave on a free transfer in the summer. Since joining Luton in 2020, Osho has played 81 times for the Hatters across all competitions, helping the club to reach the Premier League for the first time in its history. However, Rob Edwards's side have serious work to do in order to preserve their first-tier status, with Luton currently 18th, one point behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.

Defensive reinforcements required for Spurs
Tottenham have targeted their backline for serious reinforcements since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as head coach from Celtic last summer. Over the past two windows, Spurs have spent in the region of £70m to bring Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin to North London, but options are still limited for the Lilywhites. Due to injuries over the season, left-back Ben Davies has often been utilised at the heart of Postecoglou's defence alongside the likes of Christian Romero. Spurs are currently struggling with fitness issues at full-back, with both Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro unavailable because of muscle and hamstring injuries respectively.
