Fluminense are interested in signing Thiago Silva on a free transfer this summer
According to the Evening Standard, Thiago Silva's childhood club Fluminense is eager to secure the signature of the veteran defender on a free transfer this summer. However, the player himself seems more inclined to remain in Europe for at least another season.
Various indications suggest that Thiago Silva is expected to leave Chelsea after his contract expires this summer. The 39-year-old Brazilian veteran has caught the attention of Fluminense, but he remains open to staying in the Premier League or moving to another European club, believing he still has the ability to play at least one more season in one of Europe's top five leagues.
Thiago Silva's sons, Isago Silva and Iago Silva, are currently part of Chelsea's youth academy. Therefore, after the veteran defender eventually retires, he and his family may choose to settle in London or Paris.
